The Griffith Police Department is seeking a responsible and motivated individual to serve as a Part-Time Animal Warden. This position plays a vital role in protecting the community by enforcing animal control laws and ensuring the humane treatment of animals.

POSITION DETAILS

Part-Time Position

Flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, and on-call)

Location: Griffith, Indiana

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

✔ Respond to complaints involving stray, injured, or dangerous animals
✔ Safely capture, restrain, and transport animals
✔ Enforce local and state animal control ordinances
✔ Investigate bites, cruelty, and neglect cases
✔ Issue warnings and citations as needed
✔ Complete reports and maintain documentation
✔ Educate residents on animal laws and safety
✔ Assist with shelter operations and animal care

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED

Valid driver’s license

Ability to safely handle animals

Strong communication and decision-making skills

Ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior animal control, law enforcement, or animal care experience

Knowledge of animal laws and ordinances

Certification (or ability to obtain)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outdoor work in all weather conditions

Exposure to animals and physically demanding situations

On-call response for emergencies
