The annually held Citizen Police Academy offers citizens an opportunity to see how their police department functions and what new developments and technologies it has to offer. Class curriculum includes introduction into topics such as criminal and crime scene investigation, K9 applications, new technologies, a guided tour of the Central Dispatch Center, department history, DUI investigations, use of force issues, as well as many other police related subjects. Once the students of the academy graduate, they will receive a certificate of completion and the opportunity to take a ride along with an on-duty police officer.
