The town covers an area of approximately 7 square miles and there are about 60 miles of streets. Town functions are paid through property taxes and state shared taxes. Griffith's residents enjoy a variety of social, cultural, and recreational facilities. The approximate population of Griffith based on the 2000 Census is 17,334.

Griffith Emergency Fund Assisting Griffith Residents
The Griffith Emergency Fund in conjunction with the Griffith Lion's Club is providing direct emergency assistance to Griffith citizens who have been affected by the tornado that went through Griffith on Monday, Aug 4. If you know of anyone in need, please have them contact Griffith Town Hall at 924-7500.

The Griffith Historical Society seeks vendors and exhibitors of early transportation-related items for the silver anniversary of the society's Railroad Fair. This year's fair will be entitles "A Tribune to Old-Time Transportation" and will be held from 10am to 5pm Sept 27th and 28th at the Griffith Historical Park, 201 S. Broad St. Anyone that has vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors or other models of transportation is invited to exhibit them at the fair. The fair would also like to invite vendors of transportation-related, antique or collectible merchandise. Space will be limited. The Fair will also also feature its hobo stew cooked over an open fire, a raffle, and the Tower. The railroad cars and Dept Museum will also be open. For more info call 219-922-4110.

Griffith Emergency Fund Assists Griffith Residents
The Griffith Emergency Fund, working in conjunction with the Griffith Lion's Club, has been providing direct emergency relief to Griffith citizens who have been affected by the tornado that went through Griffith on August 4.
Through privately funded donations, they have assisted in distributing Food Certificates, Clothing Vouchers, and various forms of direct aid to many Griffith residents who were suffering from the damage the tornado left behind.
The Griffith Emergency Fund will continue to offer assistance as individuals continue to clean up from the storm and begin to rebuild their homes and their lives.
Any individual, organization, or business wishing to make a monetary donation to the Griffith Emergency Fund and/or Griffith Lion's Club may do so by sending their donation to:

Griffith Revitalization Gets to Work
There is a whole "lotta new" going on in Griffith. Come and see what is happening.
Griffith's Downtown Revitalization Committee (DRC) organized a Downtown clean up event on June 7. Close to 50 volunteers were painting, power washing, planting, landscaping and cleaning in order to give the Downtown area a facelift. This was the first step towards revitalizing the Downtown Area. There are many more projects on the horizon. Anyone interested in getting involved with this community event should call 924-7500 or email DRC@griffith.in.gov
