The Town has an annual registration and tag ordinance. All residents are
expected to maintain the health and safety of their pets. Animals should not
be allowed to 'roam free', but must be controlled via a fenced yard, leash,
etc. Certain animals, such as dogs and cats, must receive annual vaccinations
and must display the veterinarian-provided vaccination tag on their collar. To
provide verification of this annual vaccination, pet owners should keep
receipts and vaccination certificate from their veterinarian.
There are various state and local ordinances related to 'animals'. For
example, Griffith residents cannot have 'wild' or 'farm' animals; they cannot
operate an animal-related business except in properly zoned areas; and there
are ordinances related to noise and annoyances.
Sandy is authorized to issue citations ("tickets") for
animal-related violations.
Sandy also has some dogs and cats available for adoption. She has photos and
descriptions at: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IN244.html.
At the top of that webpage are links to pets that need a new home as well as
dogs and cats that have been recently adopted.
